Annette Semanchin Jones, PhD, joined the UB School of Social Work faculty from the University of Minnesota. After earning a BA in English and psychology from University of Notre Dame, where she graduated magna cum laude, Jones went on to the University of Minnesota to earn her MSW and PhD in social work. Her dissertation examined the implementation of a differential response approach in child welfare, focusing on the impact of this approach on racial equity outcomes.

During her doctoral program, she served on the social work faculty and was the recipient of the prestigious National Quality Improvement Center on Differential Response in Child Protective Services Dissertation Award. Jones also served as co-PI and research assistant on several projects examining and evaluating innovative child welfare policies and practices.
