I love the cross cultural aspects of research; I love trying to understand the world through others’ eyes and broadening my understanding about what’s going on across the globe.

I love the cross cultural aspects of research; I love trying to understand the world through others’ eyes and broadening my understanding about what’s going on across the globe. My goal is to get students prepared with an international perspective so they can do some good in the world and to strongly connect my research and teaching to tangible things in the international community.

My research is my activism. I have been conducting research in and about Pakistan around the issue of domestic violence and women’s activism to address the issue of domestic violence, and also have been looking at domestic violence issues regarding immigrants and refugees locally. In particular, I'm fascinated by the barriers to access of services in that community. The concept of basic human rights has always resonated with me, and I approach domestic violence as not just traumatic, but also as a violation of human rights.
