Job Description: Conducts evaluations only on cases assigned to the custodial evaluator by Peacemakers’ Court.  Conducts unbiased and objective evaluations of families involved with custody and child welfare issues with Peacemakers’ Court.  Evaluations prioritize the best interest of the child/children in each case  Interviews each child, in assigned cases, privately without parents or caretakers present.  Interviews all parties pertinent to the case.  When possible observe parental interaction with the child/children.  Make recommendations for services/treatment for the child and any adults involved with the assigned case. Services may include mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, parenting classes and others services based on the needs of each case.  Performs ethical social work practice within the guidelines of the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics.  Appreciates Seneca culture and heritage and engages in culturally sensitive practice.  Writes timely and thorough reports in written form to the court that summarize the case, provide professional assessment as well as recommendations.  Testifies in Peacemakers Court as an expert witness by summarizing the findings of the evaluation, assessment and recommendations of each case.  When indicated recommends more in-depth evaluation of a child or adult related to the case, for example this could include, but not limited to medical evaluation, drug screen, or psychological or neuropsychological evaluation.  Submits monthly records of time for each case using only the Family Action numbers without identifying client’s names or identifying data, for reimbursement of services.
Required Qualifications:  MSW from an accredited school of social work  Licensed by New York State as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker  Professional social work experience in all the following areas: o Child welfare o Mental health (including background in diagnosing mental disorders) o Substance abuse (including experience with evaluating substance use disorders) o Conducting family bio-psycho-social evaluations
Rate of Pay: $125/hr.
