Position Title: Camp Counselor
Service Commitment Details: 144 hours/ one week
Position Location: Rochester Rotary Sunshine Campus- Rush, NY
Start Date: Saturday, Jul. 27, 2019
Position Description: MDA Summer Camp gives kids ages 8-17 the freedom to be kids with others who are just like them during a life-changing week of fun and friendship — all at no cost to their families. MDA relies on the support and dedication of Summer Camp volunteer counselors! Volunteers: -Are by campers’ sides day and night -Participate in activities with their campers -Push wheelchairs, lift and transfer youngsters -Provide assistance with activities as needed -Assist with daily living tasks -Stay on site all week from 7/27/2019 - 8/2/2019 You will help kids discover new interests, build self-confidence and experience the independence of being away from home While helping kids create lasting memories, you’ll also be enhancing your resume, gaining leadership skills and earning volunteer hours.
Required Qualifications: Volunteer Counselors Must Be: -Always be willing to put the campers’ needs first -Attend a pre-camp training session (7/27/19) -Be at least 18 years of age -Physically able to assist with campers’ needs -Have a medical exam within the past year and be up-to-date on immunization Pass a criminal background check -Submit an application with references and complete an interview (deadline for application and supporting documentation submittion: June 1, 2019) -Be able to follow MDA-established rules and policies
