The School of Social Work's Office of Continuing Education developed this page to provide resources and tools to help our customers, supporters, and community partners stay informed and remain engaged during the coming weeks. We hope this information will help our community continue their daily activities and professional development as effectively, efficiently and safely as possible.
As many of you are aware in an effort to help mitigate the possibility for exposure to COVID-19, Governor Cuomo announced on Wednesday, March 11th that all SUNY institutions, including UB, will be transitioning to distance learning effective March 23 through the end of the spring 2020 semester. This is a proactive step in ensuring the health of UB students, faculty, staff and our surrounding community.
The safety and well-being of our customers and community members remain our top priority. We have been and will continue to actively work on how to plan for our upcoming trainings amid this public health concern. If we are unable to hold the live in-person trainings, we will work with trainers to provide alternatives such as live online webinars or rescheduled training dates. We will update you in the days and weeks ahead as to our plans. We appreciate your patience as we make plans to accommodate the needs and concerns of all involved.
Our utmost concern at this time is preventing the introduction and/or spread of the illness within our community while continuing the important work of our university.
In response to the evolving situation with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and for those licensees whose registrations are due to renew March 1-June 1, 2020, the Department will grant an adjustment to all licensees to complete up to 100% of the continuing education as self-study, so long as it is taken from a Department-approved provider, such as the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education, and is in an acceptable subject area for the specific profession. SED is working closely with other New York State agencies and the Governor’s Office to tackle issues relating to COVID-19. Please continue to monitor the Department’s website for updated guidance.
