MSW Student Orientation

The MSW New Student Orientation is geared towards helping you to successfully transition into graduate school. Prior to our in-person orientation, students are expected to complete an online pre-orientation designed to assist new students with their transition into graduate school. At our in-person orientation you will meet the faculty and staff of the UB School of Social Work, learn about the curriculum and field requirements, and acquire valuable resources at our academic readiness workshops.

Traditional MSW New Student Orientation

Online Pre-Orientation Course (UBLearns) - Available July 1, 2017 to all incoming MSW students.  Please complete prior to August 23, 2017.  

DAY ONE: Thursday, August 24th 2017 *REQUIRED*

8:30 a.m. Orientation Check-in

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. School of Social Work Orientation Programming - Center for the Arts, UB North Campus

DAY TWO: Friday, August 25th 2017 *Recommended but optional*

9:00 a.m. Orientation Check-in

9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Poverty Simulation - Hosted by the United Way

Online MSW New Student Orientation

Attention new MSW Online Traditional Students

Orientation for our incoming online students will be held via Blackboard Collaborate on Tuesday July 11, and Thursday July 13, 2017. This session is required for all new online students. Registration holds will not be removed until both online sessions are complete. Students should be prepared to join the orientation online by 6:00 p.m. Please be sure to have a computer with a webcam and mic.
