Mental health services are in great demand in the Middle East. Often times, reaching remote areas of need can be difficult using face-to-face counseling. Telemental health is a form of service provision that operates via telecommunication. By means of videoconferencing, telephone communication, and other internet-based modalities, mental health professionals are able to transmit services, materials, and referrals to those clients and workers on the ground.

This presentation will be facilitated via video conference by Hussam Jefee-Bahloul. Dr. Jefee-Bahloul is an Addiction Psychiatrist at University of Massachusetts School of Medicine and Lecturer with the Global Mental Health Program at the Yale School of Medicine. He joins us with a wealth of knowledge and background in mental health
services. A graduate from the Tishreen University Medical School in Syria, Jefee-Bahloul moved to the USA in 2009 to pursue his career in adult psychiatry. Dr. Jefee-Bahloul holds interests in global mental health, refugee mental health, cross-cultural psychiatry, in addition to his work in telemental health in conflict and disaster settings.

This luncheon will be presented through live video conferencing which will be projected in 684 Baldy. To join us remotely please log in using gotomeeting:
