The University at Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (UBEOC) is hosting a "College Opportunities Conference" on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 8:30am. The purpose of the conference is to present the value of postsecondary and vocational training opportunities to a number of community audiences, which include: newly arrived and long term residents of Buffalo's immigrant communities, working adults, high school seniors/juniors, their parents and other prospective adult learners interested in postsecondary studies, vocational and technical education. The conference will:

 Detail resources colleges offer that support and ensure student academic achievement and success
 Demystify and explain the college-going process and resources that support Buffalo’s college-interested immigrant communities
 Explain, demonstrate and increase students’ abilities to intellectually perform in the college classroom, and outside of it as well
 Encourage obligated and aspiring students that they can utilize state-of-the-art technology to realize their dream of obtaining a degree
 Help attendees understand why employers value vocational/technical education and detail related in-demand employment professions
 Allow prepared college-interested attendees to apply for free federal and state financial aid programs
