Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division

BPS Adult Education Division provides organized and sequential High School Equivalency Diploma classes, adult literacy, community education, and career and technical education programs that are relevant for all adult students. The Division ensures that adult education is accessible to students seeking alternative career pathways and lifelong learning opportunities.

Citizenship Classes

Buffalo State Community Academic Center

Bilingual instruction to prepare recent immigrants and refugees to take the US naturalization test. The main goals of the class are to facilitate memorization of 100 Civics questions and answers and build understanding of key vocabulary relevant to the N-400 Biography form.

International Institute of Buffalo

Provides training on cultural competency and effective ways of working with the immigrant and refuge population. Also provides Global Education to students grades K-12, as well as health education sessions for refugees and immigrants.

Free ESL and citizenship classes for parents/relatives of children who attend any Buffalo Public School. Designed as a support service for adult refugees or immigrants who want to improve their ability to speak, listen, read, and write in English and/or to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship test.

Refugee School Impact Program

Journey's End Refugee Services

RSIP is a transition and education support program for new and existing refugee students attending Buffalo Public Schools. Academic coaches provide academic, transitional, and social recreational services. Training classes are provided to parents to assist with school engagement.
