Evaluating the Hospice House: A New Model of Palliative Care

oxygen tank

The purpose of this project is to explore and describe the unique nature of palliative and psychosocial interventions that are provided for people who enter a hospice house.

Mixed methods will be used to provide a descriptive profile of the care that is provided at a hospice house in Buffalo, NY. This study is guided by two research questions: (1) What is the nature of hospice house care? and (2) How does the hospice house address physical symptoms, psychological distress and meet family, social and personal care needs? This study will result in development of a descriptive profile of a new level of hospice care and contribute to its improvement.
