The purpose of this study was to explore how psychosocial factors, including interactions with the healthcare system, become barriers to timely hospice referral. The study investigated the perspectives of both hospice professionals and family caregivers who have provided late car about psychosocial factors that both contribute to and result from short hospice utilization.
