Skype for Business

A virtual conference tool, Skype for Business (formerly Microsoft Lync) enables you to initiate and participate in online conferences, classes or meetings.

You will likely be required to engage in virtual conferences via Skype as part of your hybrid or online courses. You can also use Skype to meet with other students to work on group projects, conduct research or participate in a study group. You may also be asked to meet with your professor or advisor via Skype.

Virtual Conference Etiquette

When communicating with your classmates and professors, remember to:

  • Check your audio and video settings prior to the meeting.
  • Ensure that microphone levels are set to an appropriate level.
  • Choose a quiet place that is free of distractions to participate in your virtual meeting.
  • Mute your microphone when you are not speaking.
