Students must apply as undergraduate majors in Interdisciplinary Degree Programs with a concentration in health and human services in the UB College of Arts and Sciences.

Application Prerequisites

  1. Meet with the Director of Interdisciplinary Degree Program in the UB College of Arts and Sciences to confirm you will complete the undergraduate requirements prior to starting the MSW portion of the degree program.
  2. Declare undergraduate major in the CAS Social Science Interdisciplinary Program with concentration in Health and Human Services.
  3. Complete a minimum of 93 undergraduate credits.
  4. Complete 11 out of 15 required IDP-HHS courses.
  5. Complete all undergraduate general education requirements.
  6. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  7. Significant employment, volunteer experience and/or internship experience in a human service setting is preferred.
  8. Complete a minimum of 24 credits of undergraduate liberal arts coursework.
    • 6 credits must be in the social or behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science).
    • 6 credits must be in the arts or humanities (e.g., history, English, foreign languages, philosophy, ethnic or gender studies).
    • 12 credits may be made up with any combination of the above or with courses from the natural sciences or mathematics.
  9. Human biology undergraduate course (3 credits) must be completed before entering the MSW advanced year.

BA/MSW Admissions

You may apply for the BA/MSW program at the end of your junior year once you have met with the director of Interdisciplinary Degree Programs to confirm that you will have met all undergraduate requirements. The application process for the BA/MSW program is the same as the MSW degree program.
