Trauma Certificate Program Affiliates

The Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care partnered with the UB School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education to develop several trauma-informed certificate programs, including an online Trauma-Informed Clinical Foundation Certificate Program and a Trauma-Informed Care & Counseling Certificate Program.


Khris Decker

Khris Decker is a part time member of the UB SSW faculty, where he teaches courses intimately related to trauma, including Diversity and Oppression, Dual Disorders, and Administration & Management. Khris also proudly serves as the Managing Director of Clinical Development for Spectrum Human Services. In his 19 years of post-graduate experience, Khris has made integrating research with practice a focus of his work. Through his administrative and teaching roles, Khris spends considerable time providing clinical supervision and training opportunities for clinicians and students alike who are interested in improving their knowledge of trauma-informed care and trauma interventions. Khris has served as a trauma related trainer/consultant for several well respected organizations, including the UB Institute on Trauma & Trauma Informed Care, NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene—Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, Evergreen Health Services, Spectrum Human Services, and Health Home Partners of WNY. 


Megan Kenney

Megan is a 2013 MSW graduate of the University at Buffalo. She currently works for Justice Resource Institute and is a supervisor at the Cape and Island's Community Service Agency. Despite living outside of the Buffalo area, Megan continues to work with ITTIC. She assisted in the development of the Online Trauma-Informed Course: Basics for All Staff and continues to oversee its expansion. Megan is eager for professionals of all disciplines to be aware and recognize the importance of understanding trauma and trauma-informed care. Megan currently works with ITTIC as part of the NYDOH AIDS Institute project team by providing trauma and TIC training to peer workers and "TIC Champions" across NYS.
