Discount price for our trauma certificate participants and graduates is $235.

Prerequisite: Participants are expected to have prior experience or coursework involving clinical services for adults with mental health disorders.

This course will provide training in evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT) for depression, suicide prevention and common co-morbid disorders in adults. Participants will learn how to integrate traditional “first” and “second wave” CBT interventions including mood monitoring, behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy with more recent “third wave” CBT interventions such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Positive Psychology. The neuro-science of stress and meditation will be taught emphasizing how “third wave” mindfulness approaches calm the mind and allow traditional “second wave” CBT approaches to be more effective. Recent advances in suicide risk assessment, safety planning and prevention will be covered, as well as, evidence based treatments for common co-morbid conditions including anxiety disorders, PTSD, Substance Abuse and Cluster C Personality Disorders. Methods to enhance client engagement and motivation will be taught, as well as, case conceptualization skills for complex clients.
