| Job Description: | Develop a positive rapport with a smart and talkative 23-year old male with Asperger's syndrome, then utilize and strengthen that rapport via activities with the mentee, working toward the goals of helping him build his personal confidence and increase his overall sense of purpose. Help encourage self-sufficiency and strengthen mentee’s sense of ‘I’ve got this; I can do it’. In-depth mentee background information and a list of success approaches/tools will be provided to the mentor, once hired. Mentor shall meet in-person at mentor's residence for 1-2 hrs at least 1X/week; Mentor shall initiate telephone calls with mentee at least 1X/week, and attempt to chat for 10-15 minutes/call. Position start date is flexible. |
| Required Qualifications: | Either be a graduate student pursuing a Masters or PhD in social work, or be a social worker practioner; Ability to relate to the interests of a 23-year old male; Outwardly friendly personality; Strong listening skills; Solid ability and interest to be a positive role model. Must have reliable transportation; Be a non-user of tobacco; Be a non-user of cannabis products. |
