We're looking for a passionate Social Worker/Skill Builder to support children in foster care by delivering transformative, individualized services that promote healing, growth, and permanency. The Social Worker/Skill Builder provides skill-building counseling and therapeutic interventions for children in foster care. The role emphasizes individualized care and family engagement, focusing on emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs. You’ll utilize effective communication and interaction skills with students, children, families and others to promote success and help those we serve achieve the highest possible quality of life while promoting permanency and the engagement of families. 💼 Job Duties: 1. Provides overall case management and skill building services for assigned case load including monthly face to face contact with foster family and foster children. 2. Determine and document the medical necessities for children upon initial admission to foster care. 3. Establish treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. 4. Ensures all assessments are completed in accordance with 29I guidelines. 5. Assist children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals 6. Provide psychiatric supports and therapy 7. Provide individual counseling and treatment, substance abuse counseling and treatment, trauma-informed counseling and treatment, family and group counseling, and/or transitional counseling 8. Promote integration with community resources and skill-building 9. Provide psycho-education and wellness education 10. Communicate with family, case planning staff and medical practitioners 11. Enhance compliance with behavioral expectations 12. Utilize interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology 13. Structure interventions to decrease problem behavior and increase developmentally appropriate pro-social behavior 14. Work with the assigned County Caseworkers to provide case management services to clients and families, providing direct services and making service referrals, as appropriate, including attending all court proceedings. 15. Scheduling and supervising visits of non-custodial parents with their children. 16. Teaching, reviewing and monitoring appropriate parenting skills and intervening with the parent(s) to reinforce positive parenting skill development, including crisis management as appropriate. 17. Maintain communication with the family and resources for the clients. 18. Coordinates and oversees visitation schedule, reviewing the rules and expectations for visitation with all visiting resources and providing them with written documentation of the expectations. 19. Responsible for ensuring client safety under mandated reporter standards. 20. Identification, planning and involvement in recruitment activities for foster families. 21. Assist with conducting Home Studies and re-certifications of foster families, as needed and participate in MAPP training, as needed. 22. Provide all treatment planning and ensure compliant case documentation and reports in CONX and ECR (i.e. documentation of client contacts, progress notes, treatment plans; ICMP’s, FASP’s, court reports, etc.) 23. Follows OLV and OCFS policies to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements. 24. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: | 🎓 Qualifications: - Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling - 1–2 years of experience working with children and families - Licensed Behavioral Health Practitioner in NYS (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, MFT, Psychoanalyst) - Valid NYS Driver’s License |
Rate of Pay: | Salary Range: $44,596-$58,000 |
