Job Description: Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. (COI) seeks a visionary Children and Family Services Director, wholeheartedly committed to advancing COI’s anti-poverty agenda. As director, s/he will work with a talented team of 135 people to help advance COI’s vision of empowering individuals and families, while building and transforming communities to achieve social and economic success. Chautauqua Opportunities, Inc. has been actively serving the low-income population since 1965. COI’s mission is to lead the fight against poverty by mobilizing resources and creating partnerships to promote empowerment, economic independence, and opportunities. In order to achieve its mission, COI provides services that address local needs in areas of Housing & Community Development, Health Services, Children and Family Services, and the Child Care Council. Across 75 separate agency services and with a $17 million annual budget, COI serves approximately 15,000 individuals on a yearly basis. The Children and Family Services division is designed to provide families with essential life planning approaches comprising early education, youth development, life coaching, peer mentoring, residential assistance, and life skills education. The Children and Family Services Director will report to the Executive Director. He or she will directly supervise 4 employees. The Children and Family Services Director is expected to establish, maintain and foster cooperative relationships with service agencies; maximize service integration and cooperation within the division; facilitate and maintain a liaison role with the Regional Office, Governing Body, Policy Council, community and staff; maintain compliance with licensing where applicable; advance strategic planning and implementation; ensure comprehensive staff supervision and leadership development; and participate in the larger team of the agency through committee structures, planning, policy development and volunteerism, among others. Required Qualifications: Ideal candidates for this position will share COI’s vision and values and will bring a variety of experiences and attributes to the COI team, including a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience required (Masters in Social Work preferred); three years supervisory and/or management experience; strong interpersonal and customer relations skills; strong computer skills; being goal oriented; the ability to develop, maintain and engage in positive relationships with people from various backgrounds; and possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel.
