Job Description: Seeking Behavior Coach, MFT & MSW Intern/Trainee/Grad Student for 2018 Summer Wellness Program Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts (www.shanedietresorts.com) is seeking a Behavior Coach, MFT or MSW Intern, Trainee or Grad Student to work at its New York residential fitness and weight loss summer program. The program is held at the Honor's Haven Resort & Spa in the lower Catskill Mountains and caters to young adult men and women ages 18 – 25 and adults 26+ seeking to lose weight get fit and adopt a healthy lifestyle. The program was designed and is operated by the owners of Camp Shane, the country's leading and longest running weight loss camp for children and teens (www.campshane.com). This is unique opportunity to hone your skills and, where applicable, meet your individual therapy hour requirements. You will also work at a beautiful Resort, help people improve their lives and become part of the Shane family. There is no better summer Behavior Coaching opportunity! Job commences June 12th and continues for 10 weeks to August 26, 2018 including 5 days unpaid training. Compensation is commensurate with experience and education and includes room and board or you may commute if local. Staff works 5 ½ days per week. When not engaged in behavior coaching activities, you would be assisting in the myriad of activities that we run such as guided walks and hikes. Responsibilities include conducting: Intake assessments, one-on-one private cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) sessions and tri-weekly small group sessions. Private and group sessions focus on understanding and managing guest behavior related to weight and health and cover topics such as self-esteem and emotional eating. We have discussions, use writing activities and games to get guests talking, thinking and feeling better about themselves. We also build group togetherness and teach listening skills and using positive reinforcement to change behavior. Behavior Coach is available to staff to communicate any problems or concerns they have about the guests and to elicit help in finding solutions. Behavior Coach meets daily with the Program Director for assignments, directional guidance, as well as to discuss how everything is going, make suggestions and overall help to ensure things are running smoothly within the Behavior Coach’s area of responsibility. You will be provided with comprehensive materials created specifically for Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts’ objectives. We also have a PhD level Licensed Clinical Supervisor on our team who will provide weekly supervision on your CBT sessions.
