Job Description: Gateway-Longview is hiring a Visitation Specialist to coordinate all aspects of the visitation process including: intake/referral; orientation; treatment, safety, & permanency planning; clinical supervision; and monitoring of outcomes for all recipients of visitation services and provide support for children and parents before, during and after visits. Identify specific parenting behaviors to improve/develop and collaborate with parents on addressing the individual needs of children and the collective needs of the family. This position will also: - Actively collaborate with referral sources (ECDSS, Family Court representatives, Gateway-Longview permanency planners, etc) to identify precipitators to visitation referral and intended outcomes desired for the family. - Engage family and identified members of the treatment team in the development of a plan for visitation according to a strengths-based approach and best practices guidelines. Participate in ongoing treatment team meetings/service plan reviews, case conferences, and collateral contacts with family providers, and related court proceedings as deemed necessary. - Meet with parents prior to and after visitation to discuss specific achievement of goals, identify specific child/family needs, strategies to assist with behavioral management, attachment and separation, and outline desired goals for the next visit. - Facilitate creative therapeutic intervention strategies (i.e. behavioral management, enhancing parent/child interactions, structuring the environment, play therapy, Solution Focus Trauma Informed Care etc.) to assist parents and children during visitation. - Assess progress through parent feedback, assessment measures, and visitation specialist feedback. Demonstrate an appreciation for the parent/child’s strengths and areas of need. Prepare detailed, timely, and behaviorally specific progress notes, summaries of family visitation, and associated documentation to provide to applicable members of the team & referral source. ETO data entry should be kept current. - Actively participate in required/offered training opportunities. Provide mentoring opportunities for student interns and volunteers within the agency as needed.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree required. - Knowledge of parenting skills, child development, attachment and bonding, and grief issues. - Understanding of the impact of domestic violence, substance abuse, and abuse/maltreatment on children and families. - Must be flexible with hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary, assisting in the transportation needs of children and families referred, and crisis intervention.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in clinically based area preferred
Rate of Pay: Starting pay for Bachelors Degree: $15.90/hour Starting pay for Masters Degree: $17.69/hour Offers above the base are dependent upon years of applicable experience.
