Job Description: Job Summary: The Mental Health Provider is responsible for providing trauma focused evidence-based treatment for children and their family members receiving services through the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center. This position will provide trauma-focused interventions for children exposed to physical and/or sexual abuse, child pornography, commercial sexual exploitation of children and domestic violence, and their non-offending caregivers, and siblings. This position will provide developmentally appropriate child and family support groups. This position will also provide crisis intervention to families impacted by trauma and assess the long-term needs for children and families. Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide mental health treatment to an assigned caseload utilizing individual, family and group formats; • Provide evidence-based trauma-focused therapeutic treatment for children exposed to child abuse and/or maltreatment, their siblings and non-offending care-givers; • Conduct intake and assessment screening with clients and families referred to the STCAC; • Administer standardized assessment measures at intake, initially to inform treatment, and periodically throughout treatment to assess progress and outcome; • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments; update treatment plans periodically as needed; • Provide referrals to other community services as needed; • Provide supportive services for caregivers to address: safety of the child, emotional impact of abuse allegations, risk of future abuse, issues or distress that allegations may trigger; • Participate in ongoing clinical supervision/consultation; • Participate in training and educational experiences to enhance professional skills; • Make appropriate referrals based on client needs to other human services agencies; • Provide consultation and case management as needed; • Attend and participate in case review meetings to relay pertinent information to the Multi-disciplinary team members as needed; • Complete all clinical and administrative records pertaining to work related activities and assigned clients; • Prepare and submit summaries and reports to other agencies and professionals promptly and in accordance with confidentiality procedures; • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Masters in Social Work or Counseling, licensure or license eligible in the state of New York required. Must have demonstrated experience working with child victims of abuse and neglect, with emphasis on childhood trauma.
Rate of Pay: $42,000 - $47,000 per year
