| Job Description: | Compeer promotes good mental health among adults, youth, seniors and veterans through supportive friendship/volunteers. This position entails responsibility for the direct service mentoring operations of the adult and veteran programs. The programs match adult volunteers with Compeer clients in one-to-one relationships and provides group mentoring. All operations will be managed and implemented according to established best practices in the mentoring field. This includes screening, matching, monitoring, and closing the relationship with the volunteer and client, and communication with the parties involved throughout the relationship. Veterans encouraged to apply. Reporting to the chief program officer, the program director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, and works in partnership with the Compeer team to support the agencies purpose. Essential Position Responsibilities: Match adult volunteers with adult and veteran clients who are living with mental health challenges Screen clients who are referred from mental health agencies Interview and screen volunteers Providing follow-up support once match is made Coordinate and ensure proper closure Planning of group mentoring and activities Ensure quality programming and efficient documentation, data collection and progress monitoring Problem solving and crisis intervention as needed for the matches Support and participate in outreach/education initiatives for the purposes of volunteer recruitment and community awareness (includes public speaking engagements) Facilitate and support volunteer training sessions, volunteer workshops as well as other related programs, activities or functions for volunteers and clients of all Compeer programs Provide supervision and leadership of student interns Develop and manage relationships with community-based organizations, stakeholders and collaborators Demonstrate excellent customer service to all parties Attend trainings and conferences to increase knowledge of best practices Complete other duties as needed Position Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor degree in mental health related field Related experience in mental health, social work or related fields A commitment to strategic program development, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation and meeting program goals Veterans strongly encouraged to apply Work Somewhere Awesome: Compeer of Greater Buffalo encourages a collaborative work environment with a culture of fun, passion and success.
