The BA/MSW program leads to a bachelor's degree in social sciences interdisciplinary with a concentration in health and human services and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree. Our highly competitive program prepares you for advanced practice in social work and is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
This course provides a general introduction to the major theories of human behavior and knowledge about life span development that are the foundation for current social work practice. Specifically, this course will cover major theoretical approaches including, but not limited to: (1) learning theories, (2) psychoanalytic theories, (3) cognitive theories, (4) general systems and ecological theories and (5) theories on resilience.
Receiving a grade lower than a B- in this course will prevent you from continuing in your Foundation field placement. See the description of SW 550-551 for details.
