SW 592 Childhood Stress, Risk and Resilience

This seminar will focus on childhood stress and its impact on children and adolescents.  Risk factors, protective factors and resilience will be examined related to various child stressors (e.g. poverty, maternal depression, violence, abuse) associated with the individual, family, school and community.  The course will focus on prevention and treatment of childhood mental disorders and social problems through a risk reduction model.   Preventative interventions will be examined as will developmental issues, theoretical issues and resilience-based practice.
