Associate Professor Yunju Nam awarded $10,000 subcontract from National Asian Pacific Center on Aging

Congratulations to Associate Professor Yunju Nam who was awarded a $10,000 subcontract from National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) for a project titled “An Evaluation of Financial Capacity Building Program for NAPCA’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) participants.” This project was submitted through the Immigrant and Refugee Research Institute (IRRI). IRRI and NAPCA will work together to conduct the research and disseminate the findings.
The project will evaluate a financial capability-building program for NACPA’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) participants in Los Angelis and New York City. SCSEP is a federally funded job training program for people who are 55 years old and above and whose income falls below 125% of the federal poverty guideline. SCSEP was designed to promote meaningful community services and self-sufficiency among low-income seniors and encourage them to enter the labor market with permanent jobs. NAPCA and Nam will develop and evaluate a financial capacity-building program for NAPCA’s SCSEP participants to develop a model for long-term economic security program among older Asians. We will provide financial education, expand their access to financial services, and facilitate their asset-building.
