Buffalo Peace House provides safe housing and facilitates access to legal counsel for refugees and United States asylum seekers. The organization also provides safe shelter and nutritious meals to people seeking asylum. All asylees are eligible and some language services are available.

Compass House is a shelter and resource center for runaway and homeless youth. Both programs provide case management, advocacy, individual, group, and family counseling, food, clothing, job readiness, and independent living skills training. The organization shelters males and females, youth and young adults 12-17 as well as provides non-residential services for at-risk youth aged 14-24. Language services through the language line are available.

Habitat Buffalo is an organization that works for the homeownership of impoverished families. The homebuyer repays an affordable, 30-year mortgage. The organization also offers home repair and ReStore, a retail market to buy furniture and other house appliances. All recipients must demonstrate need for eligibility. Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME) provides comprehensive services for victims of housing discrimination. These services include recording and investigating reported incidents of discrimination, paralegal counseling, client advocacy, case preparation for legal action, and support services for victims and their families.
