| Job Description: | The Parent Educator is a part time position (appx. 8-12 hours/week) teaching The Incredible Years evidence based parent training program. Parent Educator duties include accepting referrals, orienting participants, scheduling and facilitating 12 week class sessions, maintaining case records, arranging child care services for classes, ordering class supplies, and reporting to agency, funders and court. The position requires the following skills, experience and credentials: Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or equivalent Experience working with children Proficient in facilitating groups Able to effectively engage mandated clients Knowledge of Solution-Focused, Trauma-Informed Care Knowledge of child development Enhance parenting skills and understanding of appropriate child development Educate parents on effective, non-physical discipline methods. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and timely documentation required Proficient in Microsoft Word and abie to learn agency database and NYS Connections system Experience teaching Incredible Years curriculums preferred Candidate will be subject to required background checks Candidate will cross-train with the home-based Young Parents Program for coverage. |
