Congratulations to Assistant Professor Kelly Patterson and Research Professor Thomas Nochajski on receiving the Homeless Alliance of Western New York Collaboration Award, for their research titled "Study of Hope." They will be honored at an awards luncheon on December 11, 2015.

Study of Hope
Research on Chronically Homeless Women conducted by Kelly L. Patterson and Tom Nochajski
The Study of Hope was a research study focused on the needs of chronically homeless women. The purpose of the study was to capture the social, medical, and hospitalization histories of unaccompanied, chronically homeless women, record the occurrence and frequency of assaults – both sexual and physical and explore whether individuals ever received medical treatment or trauma counseling for these assaults, to identify systemic barriers to basic social services and barriers to obtaining permanent housing, to assess successful engagement techniques and how they may differ from engagement techniques used with men, and lastly, to determine optimum housing environments which aid in their recovery from homelessness.
