Collaborative Partners
The Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care has developed strategic partnerships with various community organizations. Together, collaborators work to promote the implementation of trauma-informed care across various disciplines.
Betances Health Center
From October 2024 - September 2025, ITTIC will partner with Betances Health Center to focus on envisioning change and the pre-implementation and implementation stages of a strategic trauma-informed implementation plan.
- We will be developing a trauma-informed strategic plan with Betances to begin the implementation phase of trauma-informed care.
- There will be facilitation of trauma-informed care 101 presentations to build common language among staff members.
- Provision of on-going support to the Betances championship team to plan and implement a strategic plan.
- ITTIC will also provide consultation and coaching to all staff in a variety of formats and time frames (online and in-person) to continue the education of trauma-informed values and principles.
BryLin Hospital
From September 2025 through March 2027, ITTIC will be partnering with BryLin Hospital to build a foundation for trauma-informed care.
- ITTIC will provide Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care micro-credential training to clinical staff and administrators.
- ITTIC will provide Trauma 101 training to maintenance and cafeteria staff.
- ITTIC and BryLin will develop a trauma-informed champion team that will be positioned to lead trauma-informed change in the organization.
- ITTIC will meet with administrator bi-monthly for leadership coaching.
Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers
From January 2025 through December 2025, ITTIC will be partnering with Buffalo Federation of Neighborhood Centers to provide trauma-informed training and consultation.
- ITTIC will provide Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care micro-credential training to all staff and leadership.
- ITTIC and BFNC will develop a trauma-informed champion team that will be positioned to lead trauma-informed change in the organization.
Family Promise of WNY
From May - December 2025, ITTIC will collaborate with Family Promise to support the integration of trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive practices.
- ITTIC will conduct a baseline evaluation measuring trauma-informed culture and climate
- ITTIC will provide monthly consultation and coaching to a trauma-informed champion team that will lead the trauma-informed change process
Frontier Central School District
From August 2022 through June 2026, ITTIC will be partnering with the Frontier Central School District to facilitate trauma-informed culture change.
- The first year of projects will consist of providing overviews of the initiative to district leaders, building administrators and the community, highlighting how trauma-informed educational practices align with the district's strategic plan.
- ITTIC will provide ongoing training to counselors, psychologists and social workers, as well as individuals identified as district "Champions."
- ITTIC will facilitate district wide opportunities for professional development, including two 15-hour Teacher Professional Growth Course sessions.
Health Foundation for Western & Central New York
From January 2025 through March 2026, ITTIC and Jewish Federations of North America will be partnering with the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York to provide a trauma-informed care champion collaborative for agencies working with older adults.
- The learning phase took place from January - July 2025 and consisted of champions learning the trauma-informed organizational change model integrated with person-centered care.
- The implementation phase will consist of ITTIC providing agency-specific coaching as champions roll-out their work plans.
Neighborhood Legal Services
From October 2019 through September 2026, ITTIC will be working with Neighborhood Legal Services to assist in their process of becoming more trauma-informed.
- ITTIC provides virtual trauma-informed education and support sessions twice a month to all staff.
- ITTIC works with the trauma-informed mentor team to guide trauma-informed conversation at the agency.
New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute
In fall 2015, ITTIC partnered with the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute in a six-year contract around trauma and trauma-informed care training for those working with the AIDS/HIV+ population. In the Spring of 2021, another five year contract was added.
- During the first four years of the project, ITTIC trained Peers from around the state as part of the AIDS Institute’s Peer certification program.
- ITTIC also trained three cohorts of “Champions” during the first four years in order to help them bring the knowledge and skills around trauma and trauma-informed care back to their spots across the state.
- The project is focused on curriculum development, training of the AIDS Institute Regional Training Centers to deliver the curriculum, publication writing and the training of an additional cohort of Champions.
New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports
In February 2016, ITTIC partnered with the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) through the New York Serving Adolescents in Need of Treatment (NY-SAINT) project. From 2020 - 2025, ITTIC will be working with OASAS to build capacity for trauma-informed care across the system.
- The focus of the initial years of the collaboration was the development of trauma-informed care champions in the OASAS provider system.
- ITTIC also worked with the Addiction Treatment Centers (ATC) to develop their capacity for trauma-informed care.
- ITTIC provided Trauma-Informed Parenting Support Groups (TIPs) at Lighthouse in Buffalo, NY and Freedom House in Rochester, NY.
- The remainder of the collaboration will be focused on building internal capacity for trauma-informed interactions, procedures, and workplace environments as well as providing trauma-informed supervision training to provider agencies.
Niagara Community Legal Clinic
From March 2023 through December 2025, ITTIC will be working with Niagara Community Legal Clinic in Ontario, Canada to facilitate trauma-informed organizational change.
- During the first year of the contract, ITTIC provided staff with the Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care micro-credential training.
- ITTIC will provide consultation and support to the clinic's Trauma-Informed Care Sub-committee and their Anti-racism, Anti-oppression, and Decolonization Committee.
- ITTIC will provide trauma-informed coaching to management.
Niagara Falls City School District
From January 2020-June 2026, ITTIC will be in partnership with the Niagara Falls City School District to facilitate trauma-informed culture change.
- The first year of the project will consist of conducting a baseline evaluation of trauma-informed culture, training of leadership and individuals identified as “Champions” in each of the 11 schools, and providing on-going support to teachers and staff.
- In the following years, ITTIC will provide foundation education on trauma and trauma-informed practices to all teachers and support staff district-wide, as well as to continue to coach the Champion teams to develop their capacity to plan and implement trauma-informed culture change in their schools.
- ITTIC and Niagara Falls City Schools will create a student-led trauma-informed champion team in the high school and two prep schools.
Seneca Nation Health System
From October 2024 through August 2025, ITTIC will be partnering with Seneca Nation Health Systems to facilitate trauma-informed organizational change.
- ITTIC will provide the Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care micro-credential training to all staff.
- ITTIC will provide training and consultation to leadership on trauma-informed approaches.
Sisters of Charity Hospital
ITTIC received a grant extension from October 2024 - September 2025 in partnership with Catholic Health Systems, specifically with the work at Sister's Hospital, to create sustainability in trauma-informed practices within Mother/Baby, NICU, and Labor& Delivery.
- ITTIC will be working with each unit to talk about trauma-informed practices within huddles.
- ITTIC will be working with the Residents to go through a microcredential process for upcoming doctors.
- ITTIC will be working with a mentor team to continue the culture of trauma-informed practices within the system.
Strong Memorial Hospital
From May 2025 through April 2026, ITTIC will partner with the University of Rochester Medicine's Strong Memorial Hospital to provide trauma-informed care training.
- ITTIC will provide trauma 101 education to all clinic staff to kick-off the collaboration.
- ITTIC will then provide follow-up consultation and topic-specific training to clinic staff.
Telamon
From October 2024 through August 2026, ITTIC will be in partnership with Telamon, in order to support their transition toward trauma-informed change across all locations in the U.S.
- ITTIC will provide the Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care micro-credential training to identified staff.
- ITTIC will provide Trauma 101 training for all staff not completing the micro-credential.
- ITTIC will develop a champion team with members from across the organization to lead the trauma-informed change process.
- ITTIC will collaborate with Telamon to build sustainability through evaluation and training toolkit development.
Trauma-Informed Community Throughout Allegany County (TICTAC)
From February 2021 - December 2025, ITTIC will partner with TICTAC (facilitated by Ardent Solutions) to offer four trauma-informed champion learning collaboratives.
- Individuals from agencies located in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Erie, Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming counties will be invited to participate for each cohort.
- Champions will learn how to plan for and implement trauma-informed organizational change.
- After graduating, champions will be invited to apply for advanced champion consultation.
Williamsville Central School District
From January 2021 through June 2026, ITTIC will be in partnership with the Williamsville Central School District to provide trauma-informed education and support.
- ITTIC will provide virtual support and trauma-informed toolbox strategies for the classroom sessions monthly anchored around a specific topic.
- ITTIC will provide professional development hours to school buildings and district Superintendent Days.
- ITTIC will provide advanced implementation team work to further trauma-informed care knowledge.
