All UB students whether in our Online or On-campus degree programs are required to have access to a computer and printer. To ensure an optimal learning experience, please confirm that your computer and related equipment meet the minimum technology requirements. Students must also have basic skills and proficiencies as noted below.
*Many of our courses use video and applications that are not currently supported on tablets, Android or iOS devices, so students will not be able to successfully complete courses using only a mobile device. You may be able to access course websites and some of the documents for the class on these devices, but you will need routine access to a computer to make sure that you can access all of the required course content.
BlackBoard (aka. UBLearns) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Registered UB students with a UBIT username have free access to the latest academic and productivity software, including Microsoft Office and anti-virus programs. Please review these software offerings before considering any software purchases for coursework.
If you use a Mac computer, you will need to be sure your Mac meets the minimum recommendations and work through technical issues with the UBIT Help Desk.
Minimum Recommendations: Macintosh Computers
Many courses will conduct synchronous class sessions via different webinar tools. such as Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom, Skype for Business or Google+ Hangouts.
