Alford honored by Buffalo Business First

Buffalo Business First recognized Keith A. Alford, dean of the UB School of Social Work, with an IDEA (Inclusion Diversity Equity Awareness) award during a ceremony on Feb. 15. The award celebrates individuals who prioritize diversity and inclusion, champion equitable practices and develop inclusive cultures.

In a Q&A with Business First, Alford shared his advice for building an inclusive workplace culture. "A solution-oriented answer is the art and practice of dialogue," he said. "Through dialogue, we are exploring ways to clear up misperceptions and understand the lived experiences of others. Dialogue also provides the opportunity for relationship building and securing a strong nexus. This interchange supports an inclusive workplace."
