WKBW-TV quotes Patricia Logan-Greene, associate professor and associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Social Work, in a report on teenagers’ access to guns, in response to the fatal shooting of a 3-year-old boy by teenagers in the City of Buffalo.

“A teenager, who's 14, 15, 16, understands what a firearm can do,” said Logan-Greene, whose research finds too many children have easy access to guns in their own homes. She continued: “Up to 40% of firearms owners do not store at least one of their guns safely, meaning that millions of kids live in homes where they can just find a firearm pretty easily.”

Logan-Greene is co-lead for the Grand Challenge to Prevent Gun Violence, part of the Grand Challenges for Social Work initiative.
