The Buffalo News interviewed Peter Sobota, clinical assistant professor in the School of Social Work, for an article about the increased use of medically available psychedelic drugs and the implications for mental health care, locally and nationally. “The research is super promising,” Sobota said. “The standard treatments for chronic depression have not been that great for a number of people, and related medications for PTSD tend to be successful only about 30% of the time.”
The story also quotes alumna Jenna Witkowski, LCSW, MSW ’09, who was an early adopter of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in the region as part of her practice.
