Green named to advisory council for statewide trauma-informed network

Susan A. Green, LCSW, clinical professor in the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, has been appointed to the advisory council for the New York State Trauma-Informed Network and Resource Center (TINRC).

Funded by the state’s Office of Mental Health (OMH), the TINRC aims to uplift the principles of trauma-informed care by strengthening resources, collaboration and communication among individuals and agencies implementing trauma-responsive, equity-focused practices. Ultimately, the TINRC envisions a state where all people and communities can attain wellness and resiliency, and where systems have the tools to support healing from toxic stress and trauma.

The advisory council helps to guide the TINRC’s activities and provides recommendations for staff and OMH leadership. Green will serve a one-year term on the council, with the option to renew for a second term in 2026.

An expert on trauma-informed care, Green is co-director of the School of Social Work’s Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care (ITTIC).

ITTIC collaborates with agencies and organizations to provide education, training, consultation, coaching and evaluation services on trauma and trauma-informed approaches. The institute also provides continuing education for individuals, including through its new micro-credential program, Foundations of Trauma-Informed Care.

Green is the principal investigator on multiple grant projects for the implementation of trauma-informed approaches in organizations and systems of care. She also has been a contributing author and presenter for many peer-reviewed, trauma-related publications and presentations.

Green is certified as an EMDR therapist and in Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Beyond the TINRC, Green sits on several committees and councils for trauma-related practices, curriculum and community work at the local, state and national levels.
