Psychedelics’ emerging role in therapy

The Baltimore Sun reported on a Profs and Pints lecture by Whitney Marris, MSW ’20, adjunct instructor for the UB School of Social Work, on new research in psychedelic medicine. Marris discussed how psychedelics like LSD, MDMA and ketamine could be used to treat depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma and other challenges.

“We just do not know that much about being human — we are learning something new every day,” said Marris, who is also a trauma therapist and collaborator with the School of Social Work’s Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care. “The research is incredibly valuable.”
