Celebration of Educator Excellence
We are delighted to announce a new event that aims to celebrate the amazing instruction of our students – both in their field placements and in the classroom. This special event, now known as the Celebration of Educator Excellence, is dedicated to honoring, and appreciating the remarkable contributions of our educators and will provide an opportunity to celebrate together – as full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and field educators.
It is an opportunity to express our appreciation for your commitment to our students, our school and to the social work profession.
Each year, we recognize our field educators with the Outstanding Achievement in Field Education award. The 2024-25 award recipients are:
- Kelli Cookfair, Maryvale High School
- Gaby Naranjo, Caregivers Center at Phelps Hospital (Online Program)
Students are invited to nominate their educators for this prestigious award based on established criteria relating to their characteristics in the role as educator. All nominees are acknowledged and honored at the celebration.

Outstanding Field Educator Award Nominations
Nominations typically open in February and close April 1.
Students will receive an email in Sonia with instructions on how to nominate their field educator or task supervisor.
The recipient(s) will be announced prior to the Celebration of Educator Excellence in May.
