The learning contract helps guide student activities in practicum and is the basis for evaluation of student competency.

As of fall 2025, field education is now known as practicum education in the School of Social Work. However, you may still see references to “field education” in course titles, documents and other dated web content.

Learning Contracts - blank copies (for review and planning)

These are blank copies of the learning contract, which can be used for reference and/or planning. Students will submit their learning contract activities into our practicum software, SONIA.

Developing a Learning Contract [10mins]

This module (10 mins) reviews the basics of a learning contract: What it is, how it is developed, and how it is critically important in guiding the practicum.
