SW 555 Practicum Seminar

Required for all students who matriculated Fall 2020 and after. The only exception is for students in the JD/MSW Dual Degree Program.

0.5 credit (repeated for 1 credit total)

This course is designed to allow students a professional forum where they will have opportunities to share the integration of their coursework and practicum using reflection tools and case-based scenarios. A combination of structured activities and open-ended discussions focusing on practicum placements will be held, utilizing the required social work competencies and component behaviors as themes. Seminar discussions require all participants to review and share examples from their practicum placement experiences and participate in providing and receiving constructive feedback, with the goal of developing knowledge, skills and professional identity. This course will also introduce and make connections between practicum-work themes and principles of trauma-informed care and the promotion of human rights.
