Research Methods

3 credits

Students are required to take one Research Methods course (3 credits), which can be taken in any academic unit at UB outside the SSW and must include doctoral-level content. The purpose of this course is to help equip students with skills and knowledge to design and carry out empirically sound research.  This course can be taken in either year of coursework, but it is recommended to take this course in Year 1 if possible.  

Students have taken research methods courses in a variety of departments at UB, including: Urban and Regional Planning, Sociology, Psychology, Nursing, Education Leadership and Policy, Learning and Instruction, and Counseling, School & Educational Psychology.
