SW 583 People with Developmental Disabilities and Their Families

Many social workers are employed in agencies serving persons with developmental disabilities in private as well as public settings. Through this course students will (1) develop an understanding of developmental disabilities, (2) become aware of the effects upon the family system, (3) learn of various treatment approaches and resources available, (4) identify legal and ethical issues involved, (5) become familiar with the role of the social worker and (6) understand the standards for practice.
