This course will examine some of the current deliberations and actions that shape community development practice. Emphasis will be placed on government policies and grassroots initiatives directed toward neighborhood planning, business creation and workforce development. Students will survey current community development tools employed by governmental and not-for-profit sectors to affect social change and apply these basic skills to a local community and economic development problem.
