Objective: Intervene with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities

  1. Demonstrates understanding of the following generalist practice roles at the micro level: Advocate, Broker, Teacher, Enabler, Mediator.
  2. Using the information from SW 520 (fall) and 521 (spring) apply intervention strategies based on the assessment. Field educator will evaluate via direct observation, case presentation, audio/videotaping or process recording (identify which method will be be used).
  3. (Example of site specific) Develops a resource manual for new students in collaboration with colleagues.
  4. Provide individual counseling on a short-term basis (6-8 weeks) for one client.
  5. Co-lead a weekly support group with field instructor.
  6. (Example of site specific) Staff agency crisis line two times each month.
  7. Discuss with field educator empirically based professional literature related to possible interventions to be used with the agency/organization’s target population.
  8. Provide ongoing case management for two clients per term.
  9. Act as a social broker to locate and match appropriate community resources with client needs.

  11. Identify commonly used referral agencies. Become familiar with services of these agencies and appropriate referral policies and procedures.
  12. Discuss with field educator opportunities for micro, mezzo and macro level interventions within and outside the agency. Identify specific intervention that student will participate in.
  13. Demonstrates understanding of the ways services are used for referrals and service delivery coordination by the field placement site.
  14. Develop and provide a presentation on a relevant topic to agency staff, community group or other identified audience. Field educator will observe and critique.
  15. Utilize information obtained from intake and assessment to develop a treatment plan.
